Reiki

long life

Reiki is an ancient form of hands on healing, which came to the West via Japan.

The Japanese word Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) can be translated as ‘universal or spiritual life force’. Given it’s universality it is available to all. The healing form of Reiki is a way of accessing this universal energy to promote healing or greater harmony and balance in one’s life.

The practitioner acts as a channel or conduit for the energy. She / He lightly and non-intrusively places hands on the recipient who may feel sensations such as heat or tingling.

People use Reiki for a variety of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual difficulties. Symptoms treated range from backache to premenstrual tension. It can also be used as a support in a stressful situation or to ease confusion about direction in one’s life.

There is no religious belief system attached to Reiki so the only prerequisite to treatment is the desire for healing.

“As running water smoothes the jagged edges of a rock until it is small enough to roll away, Reiki flows to the areas of need, soothing pain and supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself.”
